I am then asked if I have dentures. People, I am 33 years old and while I have had an adventurous life, I wouldn't say its been "hard" or I've ever lived on the streets, had fights or anything necessitating dentures.
fast forward a few hours
My Back now looks like this:
Yeah, this epidural thing pretty much covers my whole back. However, I'm in full agreement of not letting anything slide in or out of my spine.I am awake and back in my room to find two pairs of skid socks, baby wipes, (two) soap trays, listermint, toothbrush, kidney pan, teeny tiny tissues and well hello there, this is like checking into the Sheraton!
Where's my mini bar?I also seem to be missing my chocolates. Too bad I have so many wires, strings and hoses, or I'd look for them.
The pain is still present and accounted for and hopefully will be titrated to a higher level of medication tomorrow. Very tired and that's all I can give you for today.
Immense gratitude for all the well wishes and good energy, prayers and love sent my way. Even from afar, it's very comforting. Thank you.

Girl I will be praying for you all week. Ian and I will email you so pictures and other such things to help keep you entertained.
Epidurals worked REALLY well when I had my c-sections, so I am hoping you get the same kind of RELIEF!
fingers (and toes) still crossed for you. And the dentures question? If they ask, it means that *someone* has answered yes before, even at our age. Because of a certain experience, I will forever ask 75 year-olds if they smoke weed.
Praying for ya!!
I hope it goes as well for you as my hospital stay did for me! And that picture reminds me that I really ought to find a way to clean off the bactine, because my ankle looks like it's this sickly jaundice color.
Having had two epidurals, I am in awe of your calm and patience.
If I lived near Empowerment City, I would keep you supplied with chocolates for your hospital stay.
Hang in there.
Hugs and more hugs.
Ouch. That looks painful. In my thoughts as always.
Get well and hope this works.
:)
OK - didn't need to see that picture of your back...but I'm wimpy like that.
Hope the pain goes away and soon for you.
One question though...why the skid socks if you have an epidural?? Can you walk? Is this different from an epidural for childbirth?
Good luck - I'll keep sending positive thoughts your way :)
